Fairy Tale was lightly started in her previous home, and was reportedly a walk/ trot, but hadn't been ridden in over a year so will need a refresh/ restart under saddle.
In our training time with her, we've observed she has a solid understanding of pressure on the ground, lunges & leads well, joins up with handler in the round pen.
Enjoys a good grooming and has good in hand manners. She requires shoes to be comfortable as she has very thin soles (films available) We've backed her a once since arrival but only at walk (as of 6/19) We will update as we work with her more, but she's available now to a rider/ trainer capable of working with green horses

Update as of 7/13/26 - Lani has made great progress in her training and is comfortably lunging at the walk trot and canter, and learning to carry a smooth trot under saddle. She stands well at the mounting block, has great ground manners, and is a joy to work with!
Lani is an adorable and spunky 15-year-old cob-type palomino paint mare ready for her next chapter. She is truly one of the sweetest horses you will ever meet, with a kind, affectionate personality and an expressive nature that quickly wins people over. Lani loves attention and enjoys being part of whatever is going on around her, making her a favorite among volunteers, staff, and visitors alike.
Lani is learning to be a trail horse and continues to gain confidence and experience. Lani naturally has a big, forward walk and enjoys moving out, so she does best with a confident rider who is comfortable with a forward horse.
Lani will benefit from an experienced rider who can provide guidance and consistency. While she is proving herself to be a capable trail partner, much of her future education will focus on developing correct movement under saddle.
She has not had extensive education in proper self-carriage and balance and is currently learning to move in a more correct and balanced way. She has shown gaited tendencies under saddle while also walking, trotting, and cantering on the lunge line. Because of this, she would benefit from a knowledgeable rider who can continue her education, whether that means progressing her balanced trot work or developing a correct saddle rack while avoiding a pace and teaching a proper, stretching headset.
This little mare is truly an absolute joy, she is the type of horse people fall in love with. Her sweet, personable nature and expressive personality make her a pleasure to be around, and she genuinely enjoys spending time with her people.
She currently requires shoes and medication to manage her insulin resistance, along with proper pasture and diet management. In addition to this, if in regular work, Lani would benefit from hock maintenance.
Lani is best suited for a confident, experienced rider who can continue her education and help her build strength, balance, and trust. She would thrive in a home that appreciates a forward, willing mare with a fun and spunky personality.
Sicily

Sicily is a registered Saddlebred mare with an unknown training history who is currently making steady progress in a structured training program with daily handling. She has worked through the basics of round pen work and is now a pro at groundwork, she lunges, ground drives, moves off of pressure, and gives to contact. Sicily is currently looking for a trainer home who can continue her training. She has not been ridden while at Horses Haven
Sicily is a very sensitive and reactive horse who is still learning how to be a calm, consistent equine citizen. She is bad for injections and is learning to stand for the farrier without sedation. She can also be difficult to catch. She is willing and tries hard, but she needs clear, patient handling as she continues to build trust.
Because of her sensitivity, Sicily will require an experienced trainer who is comfortable working with nervous or flighty horses and can continue her training safely and consistently.
Overall, Sicily is an incredibly sweet mare with a lot of potential. With the right person who understands her needs and is willing to put in the work, she could become a very rewarding partner.
