The Horses' Haven community is mourning the sudden loss of a beloved resident over the weekend. Scout was a 12-year-old pinto miniature horse who did everything together with his brother Chief. Scout was small but mighty and will be remembered for his spunky spirit and sassy attitude. He and Chief were well-known in the community for their appearances in parades and visits to schools but were loved by our volunteers for the mischief they would cause around the farm.
How do you memorialize a horse as special as Scout? Scoutie's BIG spirit deserves a BIG tribute after all. A couple of supporters who loved Scout deeply want to honor Scout by making a donation to Horses' Haven in order to help more horses find love and their forever homes. But, they would like to make an even bigger impact by challenging all of us to join them in giving.
For every dollar raised for Horses' Haven in memory of Scout through 10/31/2016, they will match it dollar for dollar up to $2,500. The money will specifically be used to clear land, build a pasture and build a run in. This new pasture will be dedicated as the Scout Memorial Pasture and allow Horses' Haven to take in additional horses. Please help us turn the tragedy of losing little Scout into something significant and life-changing for other horses! Donations can be made online using the donation link on the Horses' Haven website (www.horseshaven.org). Please indicate "Scout memorial" in the box titled "Add special instructions to the seller" so that your donation is included in the matching gift challenge. Checks can also be mailed to Horses Haven at P.O. Box 166, Howell, MI 48844. Please indicate "Scout memorial" in the memo section of the check.
