Please join us on Saturday, May 17th between 10 A.M. and 3 P.M. for a spring work day here at Horses' Haven. There's lots of cleanup to do after our long snow-filled Michigan winter, so the more the merrier. As they say…"Many hands make light work". Lunch and refreshments will be provided, so reservations are a must for our planning. Please email Lynn (LynxDonell@aol.com) with the number of people in your group and the approximate arrival time of your group no later than Sunday, May 11th. Children are welcome, but must be at least 10 years old. Thanks everyone…hope to see you at the farm!

Saturday, June 7, 2008 - Golf Outing, South Lyon
Mark your calendar! It's time to start making your plans for the 4th Annual Golf Outing to Benefit Horses' Haven which will take place on Saturday, June 7th, at River Bank Golf Course in South Lyon.

Many of you have been great supporters for the past three years. We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU for your generous support in the past and are hoping you'll choose to support this important fundraiser again this year.

For those who wish to golf, cost for this 4-person scramble is $85.00 per person, $340.00 per team. This includes 18 holes with a cart, a goodie bag filled with lots of good stuff, a continental breakfast, lunch at the turn and dinner following play. We'll also be holding a 50/50 raffle, have prize give-aways and will once again have our now famous silent auction. Don't delay in sending your registration payment to Horses' Haven, PO Box 166, Howell, MI, 48844. Checks should be made payable to Horses' Haven and clearly noted as being for the Golf Outing. Please also note "Golf Outing" on the lower, left-hand corner of the envelope. We will need you to include the names of each golfer and a contact address and phone number so that we can confirm receipt of payment.

For those who wish to golf but don't consider themselves to be "real" golfers, don't hesitate to join us on the course anyhow. This is a fundraising event and all levels of golf skill are warmly welcomed!

Those wishing to donate prizes and/or silent auction items may contact Joni at 313.531.7771 or by email at fivedogsrunning@gmail.com with any questions or for donation pickup. We will also gladly accept any gift cards that we can use to help defray the cost of the outing.

Those wishing to sponsor a hole ($100) or cart ($50) or be a Gold Level Sponsor ($500) can make their check payable to Horses' Haven and send it to Horses' Haven, PO Box 166, Howell, MI, 48844, with a notation indicating this is for the Golf Outing on both your check and on the lower, left-hand corner of the envelope. Please also note how you'd like your sign to read, whether it's a business name, in memory of a beloved horse or other pet, in honor of someone or simply as a friend of Horses' Haven. Because we need sufficient time to print signs, the deadline for sponsors will be May 26th.

All donors to this event will have their name/business prominently displayed at the outing and will also have their name/business listed on a sheet that will be given to all participants of the outing and all other donors. We strongly encourage all outing participants to support those businesses who donate to this fundraiser.

If you don't want to golf, we are again offering a dinner-only option at a cost of $35.00 per person. This allows you to join us for dinner, enter our 50/50 raffle and to participate in bidding on silent auction items. Dinner will be served after play has concluded, which, barring any rain delay, should be mid-afternoon. Payment can be made to Horses' Haven at the above address.

We hope to hear from you soon!

NOTES:  Children MUST be eight years old or older.  This is regulated by our insurance company as we are a private facility and not a public facility like the zoo.  We do not have our animals caged in or guests barricaded out.  Children between eight and eighteen must have a Hold Harmless Document signed by a parent or guardian and be under control at all times.  No wandering off or climbing fences, etc.  Visitors must stay together with the Tour Director as a group.

Guests may NOT reach into a pasture and try to pet a horse unless the Horses' Haven volunteer who will be with you gives permission to do so.  Some horses who have been starved and abused may look at you as food or a tasty treat.  There is absolutely NO feeding by hand.  All treats must be cut up into small bites and put into a feed dish.  Tools are available for this.  To a horse, a treat tastes the same whether you feed it or he eats it out of a pan.

Please be kind to our volunteers.  They give up a lot of their personal time so you can enjoy the horses and ponies and different events at Horses' Haven.
